About me

Hello and welcome to Stumbling.co.uk – the official website of me, Chief Stumbler Dave Padgen. I live in Derbyshire with my nutty dog Islay.

I have Cerebral Palsy and am a former Paralympic Athlete, having competed in the Barcelona and Atlanta games.

In 2004, I attempted the national 3 peak challenge, completing the ascents and descents of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just under 25 hours – 1 hour over due to road works on the lovely M6…

In August 2005 I suffered a near fatal cycling crash, recovered and became the first european with Cerebral Palsy to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in January 2008.  You can read about that here.

From there in July 2010 I led an expedition to be the first person with Cerebral Palsy ever to summit Mount Elbrus – the highest mountain in Europe – as well as climbing from the less often climbed north, we would also attempt to complete a full traverse of the mountain.  Find out how we got on here.

As a motivational and inspirational speaker, I have been invited to speak to a variety of audiences.  You can find details of that here and testimonials here.

When I am not climbing mountains, I am a keen photographer – you can see some of my work here.
